News and Announcements / Public Announcement on Vice War 8

Our apologies for what will practically be a 1 year delay from the originally planned debut. The schedule for the VW team has just been too hectic, as many, myself included are still under pressures of schooling. But with the coming holiday season, we can finally, and I mean finally attempt to host the event. We were very close when we last tackled it, now it can be finished.

What's been happening?

Some may or may not have noticed that the VW board was temporarily removed. This was done till some time could be surely dedicated to it, time that would surely lead to its absolute launch, no more hiccups. Fixes were made silently throughout these months coming up to where all that has been required was some map fixes and a beta run. I have restored the boards sometime last week as a surety that we will host this event in the coming weeks; I had to ensure the team was active first.

So what's gonna happen?

We will be running a private beta this weekend, staff only. After all ticks there and we iron out any noted bugs, we hope to launch a public beta December 7th, 2019. It is on the day of the public beta that we will host both the public beta server and the Map Preview server in tandem. Finally, should all go well, we hope to launch the event on either December 21, 2019 or December 28th, 2019. We need your votes on availability to determine which date we will pick. Go here to cast your vote.

Registrations are still open, more info on how to register here.

As its been a very long break since the last time we've dealt with registration, all accounts with UID mismatches have been reset and will continue to be reset free of penalty until the launch of the public beta. When that date arrives, you will only be permitted1 UID reset after that. Remember that you still need to pass the benchmark test in order to participate in this Vice War -- this goes for the public beta as well.

Secondly, Can we expect this ViceWar launch in the August?

In terms of a beta launch, trying our best to get that done in that timeframe, yes, but again, all dependent on the availability of the team. Main event though, I probably would not launch such in August.

The holiday window has been missed, many participants waiting for this Vice War aren't available anymore, plus I've created a haphardness to the dating schedule due to believing that we could have been finished already, causing confusion and potential disinterest. Therefore, it would not be beneficial to the event to launch right now, and would likely cause pandemonium and rerun requests from all of the zealous fans missing out. I'm not about that drama, and the event date has always been around max availability, so, the main event will be shifted to the Christmas Holidays, while the beta I'm preparing should suffice for all those wanting action right now. Fair enough?

As a briefing of the progress, really and truly, things are 98% done, both map and script, but the 2% would cause a serious enough dysfunction at the moment which is what we're ironing out. It's all a matter of right timing though to test and iron out these issues.
You mean event will be on 25 December?
0_9

Pretty much, but that shouldn't really be of much issue. What is the difference between a beta now and a main event in Christmas? Scores that don't count

Your attitude is good enough.

You have a quality of accepting your mistake and then never repeating it. Keep it that way.
English skills are not great but I believe they will improve with time.

Trainee.

Your attitude is good enough.

UPDATE:

Base 1 is now considered to be an Airport.
Base 2 is now considered to be a Cargo Ship.
Base 3 is now considered to be a Mining Plant.

Base 1 will have the same distribution of team capture points and resource points allotted to the team that has successfully captured this checkpoint.

Base 2 and Base 3 have splits:

  • Base 2
    • Ship Deck
    • Ship Hull
  • Base 3
    • Building 1
    • Building 2

The distribution of points are made practically evenly among these base splits. Therefore, Base 2 and Base 3, once totally captured, will allot a team the same amount of points as originally set.

New Point Scheme:

Base 2 - Ship Deck
  • Capture Points - 6
  • +6
  • +3
  • +1

Base 2 - Ship Hull
  • Capture Points - 6
  • +7
  • +2
  • +1

Base 3 - Building 1
  • Capture Points - 3
  • +1
  • +6
  • +3

Base 3 - Building 2
  • Capture Points - 3
  • +1
  • +6
  • +3

Normal helicopters are now locked to be spawned only at your spawn base.

There are now also select regions within your spawn base that you must stand at in order to spawn your required aircraft. For helicopters, you must stand on the provided Helipad, for Bomber Planes, you must stand within the large Hangar at your spawn base.

A queuing system is also implemented where spawn bases can only spawn 3 Bomber Planes and/or Helicopters at any given time. In order to spawn more, simply clear the spawn area of the aircraft to create an empty slot.

Added a new height level to altimeter. It is now calibrated to a max of 1000 m. After the 500 m point, the bar will become Dark Red.

Did u play this at 6th? And if not when it will happen?

No we didn't play the 6th. Some things came up for me during the June period which slowed down the entire process. In terms of when, I don't really want to give a date anymore cuz chances are I may miss that deadline yet again due to availability of the team, but I didn't really want to push beyond say 20th of July

UPDATE:

We've implemented a bug report ticket system where you may report map bugs or server bugs to us for fixing. You may use /reportbug to alert us of any issues you may find on the Map Preview Server or the Main Server.

This service is not implemented into the Benchmark Server.

We automatically collect the player's position at the moment you have successfully sent your report. This is especially useful for map bugs. Therefore, if you are reporting such, describe thoroughly the issue and we'll look around your general vicinity either immediately if available, or at a later time.

PLEASE DO NOT MIX /REPORTBUG FOR /REPORT

UPDATE:

While walking through the bushes, you may be notified of Restricted Area Warnings, shown under the minimap like this for example:

Near Restricted Area- you are within 400 m of an enemy base.
Restricted Area- you are within 300 m of an enemy base

These warnings are there to indicate when you will be placed under weapon and vehicle restrictions. Orange means you're getting too close. Weapons and vehicles are not restricted at this zone. Sea Sparrow pilots will experience a dimming of the screen.

When the notifier turns red, you will see that you were in a restricted area, upon which, the following will happen:
  • Sea Sparrows will immediately be destroyed
  • Bombs from Bomber Planes will be deactivated until you leave the zone
  • Snipers, RPG, grenades and molotovs are all disabled until you leave the zone

This is to prevent absolute massacre at spawn bases.

An altimeter is added to all flying vehicles able to be given in the event. Its purpose is simply to indicate your altitude as you fly across the map. It is the bar with the white line across it beside the minimap as shown here:

The bar changes colour for different altitudes, and the line moves along the bar for finer estimation of your altitude.

Bar's Colour Key:
  • Off-White - 0 to 100 m
  • Blue - 101 to 200 m
  • Green - 201 to 300 m
  • Red - 300 m to 500 m+

So by the example in the pic, the altitude of the player is roughly 160 m above sea level. The altimeter is currently calibrated to 500 m should you max it out.

Prolly my shortest post in awhile so savour the moment.

Norman, from this day forth till 2020, I'm app banning you...doing this for your own good. Reason - re-read your previous application, don't ask me nor anyone anything further regarding this, it's all been said before.

It deeply saddens me this may be the only way you'll learn, I really shouldn't have to enforce this on you but you refuse to listen.

Closing this app Monday 00 GMT, feel free to comment before then.

Apparently I didn't read. I'm locking this then, but the app ban holds. You need to learn.
