Title: [REL] Morphine's Fix Pack
Post by: morphine on May 18, 2012, 07:04:41 am
Roaming around the official VC-MP forums infested with our PAWN brothers is quite useful at times. A certain topic inspired me to write this little snippet/fix but sadly, only Squirrel servers will be able to benefit from it. If anyone wants to port it, be my guest. It is not really much, but enough modesty.

   ***   Morphine's Fix Packs   ***

--- Skin-Fix version 0.1 ---

A few of VC-MP's bugs are related to the skins used by players in-game.
Bug â„–1. "Setting skins after skin 106 is not possible without setting the default skin (0) first." - Fix added.
Bug â„–2. "Custom chosen skins are not synched to newly connected players." - Fix added.
Bug â„–3. "Setting skins in a car causes a player to crash/turn into a blob." - Fix added.

--- Stealth-Fix version 0.1 ---
Bug â„–1."A bug relating the use of 'stealth' - i.e. deleting your radar blip from the map. Newly connected players will be able to see your blip." - Fix added.

As seen in the README, this snippet will focus on two gameplay aspects of VC:MP - skins and stealth. The idea behind this is a very simple one, but getting this to work in a stable (not perfect) way took away a lot of time. Whatever you do with this, please try and keep the credits, because I wasted far more time writing this for you than you will waste on downloading and pasting this in.

There will be two versions of this snippet: the ME (Manual Entry) Version, and the SES (http://vu.vrocker-hosting.co.uk/index.php?topic=2404.0) version. Copyright goes to stormeus for the latter.

Now the ME is as it says, a manual kind. You'll have to personally paste everything in with trial and error, to be sure you do not screw up your already standing script with it. The SES version, however, works more like a module, which can be disabled and enabled at any time desired. Sadly, I've not gotten too in-depth with storm's SES system yet, so I asked him to get it packed in that way (yes, I know, 5 years of waiting, but it is really worth the wait ;D)

Edit the script according to your own tastes, I have based the triggering of arrays et cetera on commands, this wouldn't necessarily be your case. Uber alles, edit this stuff if you know what you are doing.

Releases
ME - Manual Entry
SES - Pseudo-Module

Shall you have any problems, feel free to PM me on this forum or through the methods provided in the README.

Regards, Morphine.

Is it just me, or is the download link broken?

This is what I get:

Probably some browser incompatibility issue.
What about a mirror to a third party site? Or maybe you can attach the files to your posts.

Just press ctrl+s and save that page as a file on your desktop. Now you should be able to open it with winrar or something else. They have shitty configured web server, that's why you see these characters in your browser.
After setting new skin for someone who drives the car, player who is standing next to him won't hear running engine anymore till the driver reenter to the car. It's funny bug :P We found it few weeks ago on XRR with NC.

Well it never really happens "in" a car because the player is first ejected, then given the skin, and THEN finally put back into the car. (Here at least)

P.S. I can't see any letters, I just click the link and it downloads perfectly.

You don't need to put a .rar extension after the name, it should recognize it automatically. :S

I don't know who to blame, the server or your shitty browsers.

I would blame the shitty browsers since its working fine for me as well.

A quick note: contrary to popular belief, the second set of skins does not start at skin 101. The last skin of set 1 is skin 106, which is a slut skin used on a variety of servers such as XE, which currently uses skins only from the first set. The skin after 106 will be the skin of one of the members of Love Fist, which by definition is a special skin, and where the second set of skins actually starts.

Please tell me again it's problem with shitty browsers :) First download was from Morphine's server, second from mine.

I have no problem with pointing out an issue with our servers, but please do not be a whiny, arrogant bitch about it.

Thank you for trying to insult me, Stormeus. I don't like when someone writes crap about something that doesn't have a clue. Anyways seems that you fixed it so people won't have that problem anymore, right? You should thank me for explain what's wrong there than calling me arrogant bitch.

I just think your wording and presentation was a bit poor, when you could've simply mentioned that the server was sending a text/plain MIME instead of trying to make your server look superior by comparing two wgets and then saying
tell me again it's problem with shitty browsers :) First download was from Morphine's server, second from mine.

Then again, my perception of you may be biased by the fact that I lost any remaining shred of respect for you when you hijacked a copy of the VL database.

Well, yeah. It's my hobby.

Well, yeah. It's my hobby.

No, what you did was unethical and gross taking a copy of our database like that, then bragging about it to us on IRC. Surely you could've told us what went wrong so we could fix it since, for god's sake, we're in the same clan, but you hate teamwork anyway.

Regardless, I don't want to exert any more energy trying to argue with you as it would be pointless.

You would make a speech to hackers and thiefs and tell them that what they are doing is unethical.

Same. You just called me arrogant bitch, I couldn't be quiet.

Guys...Guys.

Chill, it's just small problem.

Thanks for 'explaining' the problem, Gudio. Calling our web server shit is definitely a great way to explain the situation. Sorry to sound rude, but why is your head so far up your ass? Why do you think so highly of yourself in this (pathetic excuse of a) community? I know you have far more expertise in scripting and all, but that just doesn't make you the king of the world now, does it?

Thank you for trying to insult me, Stormeus. I don't like when someone writes crap about something that doesn't have a clue. Anyways seems that you fixed it so people won't have that problem anymore, right? You should thank me for explain what's wrong there than calling me arrogant bitch.

I did not write 'crap that I had no clue of'. In fact, I made a far better input than you have in the post. I actually suggested that the problem may lie in the browsers, whereas you just called out the web-server for being shit and actually termed that 'explaining'. Hah, I need to take more English lessons, since I forgot what the fuck 'explain' means.

Anyway, to be fair, you're no better than anyone here just cause you know how to crack your way into other peoples' belongings, and mine at that? I mean come on, that is basically like bullying a helpless kid in real life. I can relate myself to a helpless kid because I really don't have a clue how most things in hosting a server work, and how to avoid theft. Why don't you use your cracking skills for some useful purposes, rather than stealing noobs' databases? I'm sure you'd have way more fun competing with people of your own intelligence level, since we're all dumbasses compared to you anyway, right? You're the legacy of Einstein here.

Anyway, if you do want to continue arguing, then please not here. This topic is merely an advertisement for a VC-MP snippet, which again is shit right? Seems like anything not made by you is shit. I took the effort and time to do something for someone other than myself, at least.

Thanks for 'explaining' the problem, Gudio.

No problem. I'm always helpful.

It's nice to see that fellow VCMP players can sort out their differences in a civil manner :-\

As for the snippet - it works fine. But hopefully these kind of methods won't be needed in future version of VCMP.
