VC:MP General / Happy Birthday SS

From everyone in the VU clan, we would like to wish the Secret Slayers clan a happy first birthday!

The Secret Slayers began on March 5th 2015, so we're 11 days late, but oh well. #

There have been very few clans in VC:MP who have grown to such stature in just one year. You are consistently good fighters who show good teamwork, and your attitude as a clan is decent. I see a number of ex-VUs in your ranks, all of whom have become some of VC:MP's most valuable players, not least our brother Eddy. Increasing diversity and competition in the VC:MP clan scene is important and welcomed, and SS have contributed to this over the last year like few other clans have. It goes to show that it is possible to create new and powerful teams in VC:MP, and it should serve as an encouragement for others to do the same.

So felicidades SS, and long live your clan.

VU has won the first round of its series of friendly matches against TRC.

The match was close, with the eventual score being 6-5 to VU after a tiebreaker round. We would like to thank TRC for their patience in the setting up of this match, as it was long and drawn-out due to our scheduling issues. We look forward to playing TRC again, and to other friendly and competitive matches in the future.

At the beginning of this year (2016) we decided as a clan that all leaving topics ought to be public. This board is for all past and future leaving topics.

When viewing topics that were made prior to this post, please understand that many of them were in the private sections of our forum. If you are wondering why a few of them have very few responses, it's because once someone left in the past they would no longer be able to see their leaving topic, so it was useless for us to send them messages in it - either positive or negative.

Forum members cannot modify their posts in this board, so double, triple and quadruple posting is allowed, if there is a good reason for it.

If you have any questions, please ask them by replying to this topic.

This is meant as a reference archive, so in order to give it some semblance of date order we apply the following rule: Do not bump any of these topics without good reason.

Following a poll of our full members the decision has been made to kick Matrix, one of our trainees, from the clan. He was caught breaking rules in LWs a little while ago, given a second chance by the clan, and again today banned for death evading. Here at VU we are willing to give new players a chance, however we do not accept repeated bad conduct.

After a vote we have concluded that we will release all past leaving topics. We voted on whether or not we should ask past members individually if they feel comfortable with this, and the vote was not to. However, it was close, and so we are now offering the chance for past members to declare publicly if they do not wish their leaving topic to be released.

So, if you don't want your leaving topic released, please post in this topic and give a reason. If the reason is deemed by us to be fair, we will hold back your leaving topic. Otherwise, it will be released in due course (the older ones may take a while, as it will take some time to sort through them all). We will leave this topic open for 7 days, it will then be locked.

News and Announcements / New clan policy: all leaving posts to be made public

We conducted a vote on whether or not it should be mandatory that when a member leaves the clan, his or her leaving post is made public. The results were 16 yes, 3 no. All future leaving topics will be public, and we're still deciding what to do with past leaving topics.

We've noticed that in the past the reasons we've been given for leaving have frequently been incongruent with explanations made by members in other forums (mostly in clan applications); we hope that making things public will make things a little more honest. Furthermore, we've noticed that there is frequently a great deal of speculation and gossip in the community surrounding clan member departures. The new, openness policy will hopefully also go a way to eliminating that in the future, making sure everyone is well informed.

If you have any questions about past clan member departures, please post them in this topic, and I or someone who is better informed will try to answer them.

I know this is late, but it has only just come to my attention.

A few weeks ago [VU]Riders was voted runner-up admin of the year 2015 in the Littlewhiteys server! He had 41 votes, 32.8% of the overall vote, finishing only 2 votes shy of [Dna]Bryce who had 43 votes.

It's a huge achievement for Riders, and I'd like to congratulate him. So well done mate, we're all very impressed!

Deadmau5, A.k.a. Nelson, has been promoted to the full member rank. Deadmau5 has been with us for a very long time now, he has been one of our most loyal, friendly, and respectful members. Though he is quiet, he's a deadly killer and truly focuses on what is important in the game. He's of the same type of person as our old members Kontrium, J.Ripper, and AEG/Aleksandr, no-nonsense stalwarts of fighting technique, who choose to walk where others just talk.

It's been a long time coming dude, congratulations, it's an honour for us to have you as part of the family.

General Discussion, Betting, and Questions / Launch party?

Man I love the beginning of VCDC, it's the same every time. There's always a huge buzz, and for once the whole community comes together in one place. I was thinking, we should make use of this ability to contact and galvanise such a diverse bunch of players, and perhaps hold a few mini-events that are related to the tournament.

What sort of mini-events? Well, how about, as a start, a launch party?

If we had a launch party, what would you like it to look like? Where would it be? How long would it last? What sort of game-mode do you think would be a good idea?

Personally I think a huge TDM in a relatively small area (maybe Prawn Island, a la SvM) would be cool. Or maybe a Starfish Island every-man-for-himself deathmatch? The official event could last an hour, but if we host our own server, then perhaps we could keep it open for a bit longer than that - say, 4 hours - so that people who wish to keep brawling could do so.

So, now that many players use a server that uses a money system (LWs), we thought it would be fun idea to open the opportunity to bet on the players who you think are going to win/lose.

How to bet

Anyone can make any bet, with any stakes. It is other players' choice whether they want to take the bet.

Here are some examples:

[VU]Charley replies: Yes, you're right, Thijn will never get a 3.5 k/d ratio, but still, I will accept your offer.

[VU]Thijn somehow gets a 3.6 k/d ratio. [VU]Stormeus gives [VU]Charley $50,000 and then spends the next year alone, staring at a wall, questioning himself and the world.

Key points
- You can bet anything, but post proof that you actually possess what you're betting, otherwise no one will accept your bet.
- This is a trust based system. We have no power over the LW money system, this betting is unofficial. Please respect each other and don't try and swindle people.
- Try and be inventive; use your imagination. The three example bets above are quite simple, but you could make them much more elaborate, funny, and interesting.
