Title: Visual Enhancements for Vice City.
Post by: Deso on February 25, 2012, 11:38:51 am
You'll love this, bitches..

INTRODUCING: Visual Enhancements for Vice City!

It's a package, containing really cool visual mods. The package is made by Hanney, but the mods aren't made by him. So some credits goes to him and another part goes to the ppl whom created the mods.

The package contains the following mods (quote from the topic this was posted in):

Quote
Vice City Realistic Palm Trees v2 by Black Hole (PG) & kromvel
http://www.gtavision.com/index.php?section=downloads&site=download&id=749
(Acts as a compatible replacement for the trees from Vice Cry. These are suitable for multiplayer as they do not modify any collision data.)

Vice City real reflections and specular lighting by DexX
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?s=e12a807791cd22c57cd49c2f3254d52e&showtopic=281790&st=0
(Adds in specular lighting to vehicles, the player, and water ingame. Adds a nice little touch to the graphics.)

HQ Vice City Radar by yojo2
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=6585
(Changes the radar to look much sharper and appealing whilst keeping the original look. )

HQ Vice City Radar Icons by yojo2
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=6714
(Works great along with "HQ Vice City Radar". Gives a sharper higher resolution look to icons on the radar such as the "D" for Diaz on the radar.)

Extended Draw Distance by Adtec_224
(Extends the draw distance beyond normal limits doubling the values. As a result trees will load farther in the distance aswell as textures.)

Loading screens remover by created Nitzkit (Uploaded by flatface)
http://www.thegtaplace.com/downloads/f4672-vice-city-load-screen-remover
(Removes loading screens between islands making the gameplay more fluent. Worksgreat in combination with Adtec_224's extended draw distance file.

GTA IV Streets For Vice + Hi Res By GTA3&VCmodder
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=9856
I took the grass from this mod (unpatched) because I seem to like it. I also took a few other textures from Starfish and some Alley ways in Ocean Beach.

Missing Textures Fix by Beckermann-Dewitt
Fixes the missing textures on some barricades and street signs.
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=16538

Improved Lens Flare Graphics by JVT
http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-vice-city/misc-mods/781
A slight tweak which improves the lens flare from the sun.

Hurricane Charlie by Switch Designs
(Makes the rain a little more heavy and violent looking)
http://www.gta-downloads.com/en/gta-vice-city/mods/647-hurricane-charlie.html

Xbox Vehicles to PC by ALMOST610
(Adds in quite nice smoother looking Xbox version vehicles to the PC version aswell as 3d wheel trims)
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=14197

Vice Cry 1.6 by kowal125xr
http://www.moddb.com/mods/project-125xr/downloads/vice-cry-16
(Some of the contents have been removed to make it suitable for use on multiplayer. E.g trees that were not in the game originally, ventelation shafts on roofs in haiti, other misc stuff Hulk Hogan statue etc.

I removed some textures aswell as I thought they were poor in comparison to the others. Some textures also weren't added in because it was to time consuming for me to find all of the texture names needed)

This complimation is comprised mainly of this mod. New things contain new textures around Vice City, New roads, Higher resolution fonts on text e.g the "Mission Failed" text aswell as HP, armour, money and wanted level. Some higher resolution vehicles included aswell e.g Infernus, Comet, Ambulance and Police.

(Incase you only need SOME of the mods in the package, I put a link into each mod)

Anyways, here's the package:

NOTES:

1) This isn't recommended for herpy-derpy-wooden PCs

2) Some mods in the package aren't listed in here

3) You'll notice how the map doesn't have a fog or anything, it's because of the loading screen remover mod.... get it?

4) I'll try to update this post as much as I can (for bugs, links, info, etc.)

Kind of ruins Vice City's feel to be honest.
Doesn't mean it's a bad mod, just don't really like it.

EXACTLY, these are not the kind of mods which keep its atmosphere imo.
Vanilla GTA:VC is the best there could be.

Today, while I was playing in Vice Legends server, I noticed that this package of mods gave me an often FPS drop to 26 FPS while I was in Starfish Island on that villa with the big satelite. I guess the reason was because there were around 20 sport cars spawned near each other, and the shine of all cars probably caused the lag.
Well.... bummer.

As Knucis said:

Until I upgrade my laptop (in the near future) I won't be able to have decent fights in there.... so I guess I won't be using this package. Good luck with the rest of you who don't experience this!

You must have a really shitty laptop to not hold up with VEVC. :\

lol it can with no lag except the shine. It makes the game look like GTA 4 or smth. Not mi problemo. I don't experience any lag if there are around 2 - 3 vehicles, but 20.... damn (talking about the shine in vehicles in VEVC)!

I admire that whole GTA:ENB series gameplay, but a clean vanilla Vice City is better.

I removed most of these, because they hurt my eye for some reasons..

Now i just got specular lighting and Xbox cars installed in my pc.

I gotta agree with knucis, no need to replace anything yet I like to see these mods in the game.
Only installed the spec lighting, xbox cars (The wheels are just awesome, though I dont like the texture for the inferno wheels that much) and the palm trees. I mean you can prefer vanilla vc and all, but these palm trees just have to be installed :P very light download and totally worth it if you like to take pictures.

anyways good post laser

It's obvious that gameplay on vanilla version is much more smooth.

Car reflections may cause fps drop, even if a decent graphic card is in use.
And about ENB, it's not optimized really well for Vice City. After 10 minutes of recording my eyes hurt already :'(

ENB + Gta Vice City = Shity game.

Even with a good pc the ENB is screwing everything, Gta Vice City is not for running ENB shit, i downloaded it 3 months ago and i couldn't play it lagged the whole game.

Look at my face.

It does not care.

My FPS is a constant 30 with and without those mods, so I wouldn't need to worry much.

If you can run tf2 at a good fps rate, when there's no problem that you shouldn't have anything less than 29 fps (30 always) in Vice City MP + Single player VC.

Congratulations Kevin. :)

All I have is

Shiny Cars
Edited 3D-Like weapons
GTASA Death Animations
Smoke Deduction and Grass & Car Smoke Improvement.

Video. Coming Soon. :)

I'm sorry that the legs may go through the ground, but that's how it looks converted from SA to VC. And the m4 look shitty , I'll change that. :p
