Title: Major Changes to VU's Leadership Structure
Post by: stormeus on October 04, 2013, 01:42:57 pm
As some of you may have been aware of, leadership in VU has been stagnant for a while. While we have had persistent faith in the single-leader, autocratic system, the majority of full members have agreed that it is not reliable in the event of a leader being inactive for extended periods of time.

Over the past few months, several members have met on IRC and the forums to discuss potential ways of solving this problem, electing a new leader being among them. Gradually, we took steps toward being a more democratic clan. Several days ago we had even announced the promotion of a member by majority rule, rather than relying on a final decision from a single person.

That being said, we are proud to announce that to rejuvenate and strengthen the clan, VU's full members have decided to adopt a new system without a fixed leader.

The ultimate symbol of trust and responsibility is being able to rely on other clan members to work with each other to make critical decisions that used to be entrusted with a single person or couple of people. For that reason, we have decided to use a system where responsibilities are delegated among smaller groups of members who communicate with each other, acting in the best interests of the clan.

At the moment, we have decided to set up three circles.

Despite the existence of these circles, they are not rigid; members may switch between and be added to them as needed, and everyone will continue to communicate with each other to decide what is best for the clan overall, rather than for each group. Members in circles are not better than or inferior to others, and do not have absolute power; rather, we have simply elected people to these roles who we thought would be most capable of them. Full members will all be equal to each other, and work toward the improvement of our trainees and rookies so that they can soon take part in this system as well.

It may sound drastic, but this is how the clan has, more or less, operated for the past few months, and we don't believe it will be a radical change for full members, rookies, and trainees alike to adapt to. In fact, we all firmly believe that these changes will allow VU to continue being one of the best, ass-kickingest clans in VC:MP for a long time to come.

More information will be released in the coming days as we begin to smooth out the edges of our plan and gain a solid and concrete idea of what will happen as we continue our switch to this system.

Voting for the proposal for the parity system, out of 16 active full members:
