My mother-in-law said to me at dinner last week that I overreact too much to criticism.
So I shot her.

That's a misconception. The 'leap year' was made to keep the calendar in synchronized with the seasons (Spring, Summer,Autumn,Winter) since there are 365.2 days (24h) in a year. In south & central America they don't have seasons so they didn't need to have one. For us a day takes 3600 min. For them a day is a sunrise, sunset. When you take that into account the date is correct.
