As for the people that see benefit in banning people like NO_MERCY off of servers - I do not classify this as exemplary behavior either. The more you fight fire with fire, the larger the fire becomes. It is a vicious circle that I see no end in.
Yes! It's the servers who are in the wrong for banning a cheater and a ban evader. How dare they!? ?  ;D ;D ;D

Alright, jokes aside now, I understand the approach you're trying to take morphine, and it would be the correct approach IF we did not know how he is evading. But that's not the case. It's not like we don't know how he is evading. Any competent server developer with a decent understanding of a server-client model knows pretty damn well how it can be done. VCMP devs know about it too. But here's the thing: Just because we know how it's done, that doesn't mean that there's a 100% full proof viable solution to it. There's certain compromises you have to make to "solve" this issue. I've made mine and I believe it will solve most cases.

That "talent" you see is not there. He's not the first to evade like this and he certainly won't be the last. He was simply helped by someone who actually has a clear understanding of how things work on a more technical level. Once 1 person finds out, he can simply pass on the information and the others will simply follow the instructions. I'd hardly call following instructions "talent".

With that said, there is no anti-cheat protection that is perfect in any game. That's just the nature of things. As I said there's certain compromises you have to make here and there, but people still seem to think that the concept of "perfect anti-cheat protection" is real. It's not. Not in VCMP and not in any other game. We should atleast be thankful that 0.4 has any anti-cheat at all. 0.3 didn't really have much, if any.

Can you disable ping/fps kick for those who spec as yellow skin? and i will also suggest remove kick on login, maybe just auto kill player if they don't login.
The server does this already. The script does not kick spectators even if they have a high ping or low fps'. Those limits are only for spawned players. The kick on login has to remain tho, otherwise we'd have a bunch of people impersonating other people.

WTF dudes, hey MK guys!!! We are having a match tomorrow in CTF 5 server (VU_T/R vs MD). I cant register on your forum because it asks "what year is it?" and it fails my test when I write 2017. Seriously????

We will need to password shutdown the server at 15:00 GMT. Please let me know if its feasible ASAP! Hope someone reads it and reply here!
Alright I've fixed the question, now the answer is 2017.

What do you mean with "password shutdown" ? You mean locking the server with a password? We always do that, we just announce the password on public forums for spectators to join, but if you don't want spectators in your match that is fine too, we just won't announce the server password publicly. Just make sure to tell that to the staff members who are going to be handling your CW and it should be fine.

About your suggestions, thanks for taking the time to write those down I agree with some of those and not so much with others. I could go into more detail, but unfortunately don't have the time to do so atm. I'll be keeping an eye on this topic regardless.

Eddy showed me one place on the Damn roofers arena that had a gap between some fences. This is fixed now, another fence was added and cannot be jumped over.

I looked around for some more gaps but didn't find any.

Also if it is possible cuz this is short notice, it would be good to have a script that limits the amount of players that can spawn while the rounds are active for clanwars like this. We see it all the time where our reserves suicide for a myriad of reasons, making each side lose points, or some random noob joins the server and tries to spawn over and over.
Hmm, the server already has this, CTF5.0 I mean. Whenever there's a clanwar, the server limits the teams to 5 players maximum. There's an IRC command and ingame command that staff members use to put the server in "cw mode". Staff members know about this, but just in case they forgot, ingame it's /event <serverpass> <eventName>, on the IRC staff channel, it's !event instead of /event

!event <serverPassword> <eventName>

After running the command:
  • The server will be locked and the password will be set to whatever was typed in <serverPassword>
  • The server will change the server name to whatever was typed in <eventName>
  • The server will kill all spawned players and generate a spawn password for the blue team and the red team (the passwords will be shown on the staff channel)
  • The server will set the spawn limit to 5 players

The server will kill the players who try to spawn when their team has reached its limit for spawned players. These players that get killed this way will not affect their team's scores. No points will be deducted. Staff members can also change this limit with /spawnlimit <number>. If the number set is less than the current spawnlimit, that command won't kill any excess players that are spawned though. Also if some random noob joins the server, he won't be able to spawn because he doesn't have the spawn password.

!endevent must be used from the staff channel after the clanwar is over

About the Damn roofers arena, I'll fix it in a few hours when I get home.

There was one spawn bug though that manifested itself. We loaded up I believe it was Vercetti Fields mid match and I was spawned way out of base. By my guess, I believe I took on the spawnpoint of the map Motel Fury as it corresponded well with the side that is to the beach. It only happened once and to me only I think of the 25+ maps I checked that day.

If you are saying that during Vercetti Fields you spawned in Ocean Beach in the 'hotels' section, I had the same issue on Vercetti Fields map.
This is fixed now. Let me know if there's any other bad spawnpoints on other arenas.

Another bug I did notice was the auto-start voting system. The voting options disappear after a period of time with no way of re-activating it unless an admin comes in the server, disables then re-enables the autostart function. So no non-admin can start a match and play on the server in their own time as a result. That needs to be dealt with.
This is actually how it works on CTF4.0 aswell, the only difference is that the script spams the staff channel with a warning when this happens and usually someone on the staff channel uses the IRC command to re-enable autostart. I haven't added this warning to the CTF5.0 IRC bot though, In the future I'm going to change it so that whenever admins leave the server the autostart function will be automatically enabled.

Do you know if the staff member tried to use the command while the round was in progress?
yes :-[
Next time when everyone is on the lobby (Malibu), before the round starts just use: /switchedctf <arenaName> and the round will start with the sides flipped. For instance /switchedctf tools will start the 24/7 tools arena.

Since the script has spawning issues when flipping sides between teams
Did this happen again during this last multi clan match?

I remember fixing this bug months ago and I just tested it right now and couldn't reproduce it. You sure this is still happening? If so, do you remember on which arena this happened?

Well yeah we had issues but no it wasn't the issue of spawning that was present in the TRC vs VU match way back. I believe the command just flat out didn't work. Skycrappers was one example where we had to kill ourselves and switch sides as a result.
Do you know if the staff member tried to use the command while the round was in progress? Or did he used it before the round started from the lobby? The command has to be used while on the lobby, doesn't work while the round is in progress :P

I am not fully aware of "these recent posting trends" you're refering to, but those who get banned will always complain regardless of whatever changes you guys decide to make now, so don't expect to receive any constructive criticism from  their side. If you're talking about imposing general forum wide rules to prevent the scenarios which you described, I don't think that will work because the type of people that engage in these sort of behaviours will not be held back by a simple rulebook, but I guess it's worth a shot anyway since it will atleast bring awareness to the fact that those issues exist and that such behaviours will not be accepted.

I believe the "issue" here that this forum is such a big community hub for matters not directly related to VU, that people tend to forget that this is infact a clan forum and expect the forum administration to be lenient in most cases. Although, I am of the opinion that VU could and should have a say about what they allow in their own forums.

That way I see it, anything that helps reduce the toxicity in the community is a good thing.

Well at least someone actually thinks of me as a hacker because I'm using trails mod *cough*NewK*cough*, so I officially am a legit hacker.
I don't recall banning you from anywhere or calling you a hacker. I remember you told me you use some visual mods and that you used some sort of loader (or w/e it was) to load some mods for reflections(maybe? can't remember what you said exactly), I don't remember any of the mods you mentioned giving you any sort advantage. What I do remember is you asking me if I was "fine" with it and me saying I wasn't. Simply because I'm not "fine" with players having loaders given the damage those can do, if used by someone willing to cheat. Me not being "fine" with it doens't mean I deem you to be a hacker of any sort. That said, I see now that you probably missunderstood what I meant, or I missunderstood what you were asking me at the time.

Server ctf4 or ctf5?
CTF4, CTF 5 is bugged atm and the time per rounds (the 15 mins) are like desynchronized.
If you didn't play in the VU vs TRC cw, Knucis was the one using a stopwatch on all rounds and it was a disaster (the clan war, not knucis work, he did great :D) also the teams spawns is a problem but if newk fixes it, we can play on CTF5 but I doubt it since newk is busy.
Actually, all the bugs reported from the VU-TRC clanwar have been fixed just a few days after the clanwar. I'd recomend CTF5 seeing as CTF4 has some serious balance critical bugs. It would probably be a good idea to have 1 or 2 matches in CTF5 before just to make sure though since there hasn't been much testing on CTF5 for quite a while :P

No exception NewK, he shared same hacks, mousefix, f1, wsfix. he claimed himself in pics using "wsf"

I'm capable of drawing my own conclusions, tyvm.

Can someone clarify what exactly is Mousefix? Is that the same tool I talked about ? Or something different?
