Information and FAQs / [NEWSFEED] VW8 Registration
« on: December 17, 2018, 05:07:37 pm »
Due to an unexpected error found in our Portal to be used for registrations this year, The Diplomacy and Registrations board has been privated to prevent mass registration of our prospective participants (that we would have to clean up).

This error was found conveniently the moment we went live.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our audience. The board will be available promptly as soon as changes can be uploaded to our database.

For the time being, we opted not to reverse the public announcement of Vice War VIII: Renegade's Strife, so feel free to ask questions in our Questions Board about the game-mode or read through our new changes.

Diplomacy and Registration / How to Register?
« on: December 11, 2018, 07:32:54 pm »

This year, in order to reduce the workload on Staff, and the confusion of our players, we have made a much easier, streamlined form of registration.

Simply visit our VW Portal here. There, you will be able to register using your in-game nick and password.

Everything is tied to your forum account here, and so, upon acceptance you will automatically retrieve the membergroup you registered for and can begin conversing in your dedicated team private boards. No keys are required this trip, therefore you will not receive a private message. You can check the status of your application on the Portal.

Conditions:

Once you visit the portal and register your nick, your registration will be in Pending state. You need to visit our benchmark server under the same nick afterwards: 217.69.11.99:8192

Once there, simply spawn and the benchmark will be done for you. You need to complete all 4 tests to be considered for acceptance.

Test Requirements:
  • You must achieve at least 30 FPS on Test 1 and Test 2
  • You must achieve at least 25 FPS on Test 3 and Test 4

NOTE:

  • Absolutely NO ONE will be able to participate in this edition of Vice War if they fail any of the requirements for each test.

  • The resolution you pass the test at will be enforced on your in-game account. This means, if you join the server with a higher resolution than the one utilized for the benchmark, you will be auto-kicked and asked to play at the same resolution used for the benchmark, or lower.

If you have made the mistake of running your test at a lower resolution, you can redo the test at anytime to update your record. The most recent passing score recorded in our database will be used.

  • The benchmark is tied to your account and the PC that ran it. You will not be able to play Vice War on any other PC than the one used for the benchmark.

  • Any form of misconduct to cheat the system will result in an automatic ban from the event.

Once you have completed the benchmark, your account will first be verified and then a decision will be made by our members of VW Staff to register you.

FAQs / [QnA] Index
« on: December 01, 2018, 06:12:35 pm »

QnA Index

  • Are we going to have multiple spawn points or is it going to be a fixed spawn for each team?

It is going to be a fixed spawn for each team

  • In regards to the vehicles, what do we intend with default spawn location?

Attack vehicles and helicopters spawned right in the heart of a fight is unfair and threatens the balance of gameplay, as these vehicles are OP in their own right. In order to combat this, these specific vehicles can only be purchased and spawned when you are at your default spawn location. You must then drive your vehicle to the zone you wish to use it. This gives a balanced opportunity for the enemy to deal some damage as it traverses to its destination.

  • Are vehicles going to spawn automatically after purchase or will they be summoned by the player?

They are spawned automatically after purchase.

  • Are the vehicles limited to one per team or is there any limit in regards to how many can be spawned at once?

There is no limit whatsoever to how many vehicles can be spawned per team.

  • Can vehicles be accessed by anybody outside of the player who spawned it, or even by enemy players?

All vehicles can be accessed by any player should they get the opportunity.

  • How many seats is each vehicle mentioned going to have? (spoiler?)

Yet to be tested and decided for the applicable vehicles (Bus, Carrier Helicopter), however, we aim for the max possible count attainable in VC:MP scripting. If that number is vast, then no more than 10 players.

  • Do we have an option to pass cash to another teammate?

Cash will be able to be passed to teammates. Resource points are personal and will not have such option.

  • Is it a map made of custom objects or composed of Vice city objects?

The map will be made with a mixture of both custom objects and Vice City objects.

  • The special vehicles are custom or just use models from Vice city (airtrain-skimmer...)?

Some vehicles will be custom-made (if I have the time) but mostly models from Vice City will be used.

  • Is the map composed of islands connected with a bridge ( callahan bridge would be cool ) or it is just a compact portion of land?

More on the compact portion of land side. There will be minor rivers here and there, and I may put in at least one major river that splits the land, but overall it's going to be one landmass.

  • The custom map is urban, rural or both?

The custom map is predominantly rural, jungle life and vegetation, huts and zinc houses at settlements. The only urbanized zones would be the 3 bases.

  • How big is the custom map? Bigger than vice?

The map is aimed to be as big as Downtown Vice City in it's entirety.

Information and FAQs / Basic Information
« on: December 01, 2018, 05:14:49 pm »

Vice War History
Vice War is the biggest event of VC:MP, inviting every eligible player in the community to participate for a massive Death Match fest. The event is organized yearly during the northern winter by the Vice Underdogs clan. The war rages for 24 hours between two teams (or multiple teams depending on the event), who gain points to prevail as the winner in a theme based game mode.

Vice War 8
2019 will feature the eighth edition of Vice War. The theme this year is a war between two teams in the jungle of a customarily 3D designed island.

The Match
Vice War is a global Team Death Match event that runs for 24 hours. This means the players can join, leave or reconnect to the server at anytime during its duration. The team which earns the most points after 24 hours, wins the event.

The Teams
The red and blue teams are back in this edition. Visit the Diplomacy and Registration board for details on how to register for your preferred team.

The Players
Players need to register to one of the teams in order to play the event. Clans may choose to pledge allegiance to one particular team, clanless players may choose the team that best suits them. There is no limit on number of players in a team, so each team can bring in as many players in the war.

Visit the Diplomacy and Registration board for more information.

Resource Points

In this edition of Vice War, there is a new addition for the funding of various resources in the game. We call this Resource Points that will be displayed in the GUI of your game in the manner shown:

Subject to change.

These resource points are acquired through playtime. They are strictly personal and cannot be shared among your teammates. The maximum count that can be acquired by each person is 500 points.

At the start of Vice War, each player is given 50 points by default and for every minute in-game you play, 10 points are added to each category of Resource Points. This rate can be sped up with the capturing of bases, spoken later in this post.

What are these categories? And how are Resource Points used?

     Infantry Points
  • Used in the acquirement of specific personal carrying equipment namely:
    • Grenades (normal and remote grenades)
    • Molotovs
    • Ammo crates
    • Medical kits

  • You cannot buy the items listed with cash earned during the event.

  • You can carry as many as you desire (and they can be stacked upon) except for ammo crates and medical kits. Limit is 5.

    • You can only carry and stack up on one type for its given weapon slot. Ammo crates and medical kits share the same slot that is scripted. You cannot carry both items at the same time. Ammo crates and medical kits do not affect grenade/mol weapon slot.

    • Each ammo crate restores 100 ammo to all your cash/free weapons currently in your arsenal at the time of use. Ammo crates do not affect Resource Point weapons. Ammo crates can also be shared by using the /drop command. A pickup will be generated of the ammo crate once done, and your teammates can pick it up if needed. This pickup is also available to the enemy so be careful how you use it.

    • Each medical kit restores 50 HP. Like ammo crates, you can share your medical kits among your teammates by utilizing the /drop command. A pickup will be generated of the medical kit that can be used by anyone i.e. either teammate or enemy.

    • Bus
    • Boat

  • You cannot buy the items listed with cash earned during the event.

  • The Bus is an heavily armoured vehicle that is capable of carrying multiple persons to the battlefield at once. It can only be spawned from your default spawn location.

    • Carrier Helicopter

  • You cannot buy the items listed with cash earned during the event.

  • The carrier helicopter is a special heavy armoured helicopter that can be used to carry your teammates to the battlefield. It can only be spawned at your default spawn location.

  • The attack helicopter (Sea Sparrow) and Bomber Plane can only be spawned at your default spawn location.

  • There are no limitations where it regards who can spawn an attack helicopter, i.e. anyone under the ping limit and ping jitter limit are free to use the vehicle.

Bases

There are 3 bases to attack and control on the new map, each with their own unique perks based on the type of base. Stated earlier, the bases can affect the rate of recharging of your Resource Points. They all affect each category differently from one another by adding to the rate constant, and so a team can prioritize which base matters more to him depending on their attack style. Recall that the default rate for Resource Points 10 points per minute.

Each base also comes with its own unique Capture Points necessary for a team to actually win Vice War.

Base 1 - Aviation Plant
  • Capture Points - 2
  • +5
  • +3
  • +12

Base 2 - Armoury
  • Capture Points - 12
  • +13
  • +5
  • +2

Base 3 - Auto Plant
  • Capture Points - 6
  • +2
  • +12
  • +6

If all 3 bases are captured, a maximum of 20 Capture Points and 30 Resource Points per minute (for all categories) can be achieved for a team.

Team Points

This outlines all the points that add to your team's points to win Vice War. The team which earns most points in 24 hours wins. Points are earned by:
  • Killing: Each kill gives 1 point.
  • Surviving: Each death grants a point to your killer's team.
  • Bases: Each base varies in Capture Points, check above in Bases for details. Up to 20 points per minute if all bases captured by a single team
  • Sprees: Killing sprees give points equal to spree multiplier (5 Spree gives +5 points, 10 spree gives +10 points).

Money

Weapons and health can be bought spending money. Money is earned by:
  • Killing: Each kill gives $100.
  • Surviving: Each death deducts -$20.
  • Bases: Each captured base generates $300 per minute, distributed among all online gang members equally.
  • Sprees: Killing sprees give money equal to spree multiplier (5 Spree gives +$500, 10 spree gives +$1000).

Cash/Free Weapons

  • Weapons not covered under Resource Points can be purchased by /wep command.
  • Players can also set free weapons as spawn weapons(/spawnwep), so they receive them on every spawn.
  • When a player dies with a weapon, he/she will respawn with the leftover ammo of that weapon. That means, you will keep your weapons even if you die or quit the server until you completely run out of it's ammo. This also applies to weapons acquired by Resource Points.

  • Weapon Prices

    Chainsaw - 1(lost on death)100$
    Ruger - 200 ammo400$

Any attempt to coerce administrators into resetting a password that is not yours, exploiting the server to join an account that is not yours, registering for the event multiple times or otherwise joining under any nickname under the one you were given will result in a permanent ban. Using VPN to connect to the server or register your application on the forum will result in an automatic ban from the event.

To enforce the above rule, you may use only a single computer to play in the event. Any change detected in your original machine's UID will lock your account automatically.

No spamming

Flooding the public chat, team chat or IRC with repeated messages or random garbage, is frowned upon and may result in you being muted or kicked.

Lag restrictions

The FPS threshold is 25. If your average FPS is below 25, the server will automatically kick you.
The ping limit is 300. If your average ping is above 300, the server will automatically kick you.
The ping jitter limit is 30. If your jitter is above 30, the server will automatically kick you.
Repeatedly trying to reconnect on kick when you can't maintain a playable ping may result in a ban.

The following game exploits/features are not allowed:

  • Wallglitching is disabled by the scripts. Shooting snipers through walls is not allowed.
  • Sliding is not allowed.
  • Using rockets in close range combat is not allowed (20 meters).
  • Using first person view with any weapon except snipers and rocket is disabled by the scripts.
  • Abusing first person view to exploit sync is not allowed.

  • Entering bugged or glitches Vice City locations is not allowed.
  • Purchasing weapons during combat is not allowed.
  • Molotov and grenade glitching is not allowed.

Limited Spawn camping

Camping the designated spawn areas is allowed under some restrictions. You shall not use explosions or fire to spawn camp. Repeatedly destroying vehicles on enemy base or camping them with snipers is not allowed.

Stats Padding

By participating in Vice War, your motive should be to gain victory for your team. Intentionally feeding kills to another team will lead to severe punishment to both the teams.

No abusing administrative powers

Any attempts from moderators or administrators to use the commands they were entrusted with to give their team or themselves an unfair advantage over opponents or for any purpose other than enforcing these rules will result in demotion and/or a ban from the event.
