Fighters, you have been placed into groups with random seeding. You may complete your assigned matches in any order, but it is your responsibility to complete them in a timely manner.

At the time of your match, have any VCDC Admin or Referee administer your match. Contact information for referees and admins can be found here.

You will play exactly one match with each other person in your group. If you'd like a list of matches, you can find them in the Group Standings thread or read these instructions.

Matches conducted without an admin present are invalid.

Conducting Matches
You will play a match with each player in your group.

Each match consists of three sets. In each set, you have five duels. Here's the breakdown:

• Match — an arranged game with a player in your group with three sets
  
  • Set — five duels (for consistency and stats tracking, you must play all five)
    
    • Duel — a single round that ends when an opponent is killed

Players must start each duel with 100HP and 0 armour.

Scoring
For each match win, the winner gets 2 points.
For each set win, the winner gets 1 point.
No points are deducted for losses.

If a player wins three sets and therefore the match, they gain 5 points. If a player wins two sets and the match, they gain 4 points. If a player loses two sets but wins one set, they still gain 1 point.

At the end of the group stage, the two players in each group with the most points advance.

Exception: If a duel ends with both fighters killing each other simultaneously, the duel will be discarded. It will not count towards the score.

Starting a Match

• Join the server you and your opponent will be dueling on.
• Use /newmatch and use /addblue to invite your opponent to join.
• Have an admin use /referee to join your game as a ref.

Note that there is no automatic scorekeeping on the server and health is not automatically restored on kills.

After completing a match, go to your group's thread and reply with this form:

Morphine would have won four points for this match: two for the win, one for the 0-5 round, and one for the 1-4 round. I would have won a point for the 3-2 round.

Commands do not use the !command syntax because there are multiple servers listening. In order to use a command, use BotName: command instead.

What is the VCDC?
The Vice City Dueling Championship is an idea that was first devised by [VU]aXXo in 2009. Since then, we have had three successful tournaments with 40 competitors each and it is time for the fourth.

The tournament will consist of three stages: a group stage, a Swiss-style competition with the top two players from each group, and single-elimination quarterfinals/semifinals/finals. After the applications have been closed, groups will be decided by matching players' timezones as closely as possible, so as to make organising matches easy.

Details about how each stage will work will be released in the relevant forum board. This will be an ongoing event, it will not be on a particular day. Matches can be fought at any time, on any VCDC server, as long as an admin is present.

Who can participate? How do I sign up?
Anyone* can participate! Registration is essentially uncapped as the player limit will be raised as long as the tournament doesn't end up being too complex to administrate.

What prizes are there?
The winner gets the satisfaction of being the best player in the tournament!

If you need to contact a referee or admin in order to administer a match, refer to this thread for contact information. Only admins should fill out this form and reply. If referees cannot reply to this thread because it is locked, they should have an admin post for them.

This year, servers will be open to the public 24/7 for practice and spectating. Official matches will be overseen by an admin or referee on these servers as well.

It is the responsibility of fighters to choose a location that provides a comfortable experience for both players. If a server is agreed upon, neither fighter may ask for a rematch due to high ping to a server, unless it is an issue with the server itself. Players who cannot agree on a server will be expected to play on the European server.
