The long-waited version of Vice City Online will be on public beta test, TODAY!



Yes, you heard it! It's gonna be tested today, and released 10th! I hope to see all your [VU] asses in there, since I am gonna be :)

Sure! Here's what's happening. Today at 2pm (GMT) a Developer Preview pre-release beta build will become available for EVERYONE to download.



Why the short notice?
Because, bitches, that's how we roll. Though, we did mention the event would take place in and around February 5th when we announced the delay in the release date a few weeks ago.


How long will the event last?
A day, or two, depending on how the event goes. We cannot say for certain at this time. We'll turn the lights out when we feel it's the right time.


C'mon, man, we've waited years for this, why not a longer event?
Because... Just because. But, not to worry. You will have your full Developer Preview release by February 10th!


How many servers will there be?
Two, or three. However, no less than two. We're still making final preparations.


Will there be any game modes?
Absolutely! But that's all we're saying, for now...


How stable will the build be?
Unknown at this time. The game is still in beta and we normally test with only a small number of people. Thus, it's very difficult to tell how the game will behave with a lot of players connected. We are warning you to expect problems. This is why we're hosting the event. We want to give you the best Vice City multi-player game EVER! This means we have to test it properly before we can call it "stable." Quite simply, if you crash, just restart your game and keep the fun alive!


How will you guys be collecting crash and bug reports?
We're doing it old school. We will ask each and every one of you to submit your game logs when the test is over to an e-mail address that we will disclose in the welcome message when you launch your game. That takes care of the crashes. For uncrashable bugs, we have prepared a fresh new bug-tracker. We ask that you register on the tracker and report any bugs you come across. We know it's not fun making reports but it will really help us refine the software, and your help is vital if you would like more stable release on February 10th. So, please, help us out.

After testing it for less than a half hour, I can say without a doubt that the beta was terrible. I know it's not the final product, but it was absolutely unprofessional, and looked rushed. They only tested it with no more than four players, yet they have a team of, what, 10 members?

The test servers restarted time after time after time in a bid to try to solve problems, . It may have been feature-complete, but the constant crashes, bugs, and server restarts have convinced me that VC-O might as well go back to its brain-dead existence.
