Title: mIRC
Post by: Almo on July 31, 2017, 11:53:55 pm
I noticed that the majority of the players of VCMP, chat through irc as well so, I downloaded it
The problem is, i followed Thijn's guide :- http://viceunderdogs.com/index.php?topic=109.0
but since its from 2009, things would've changed, i tried connecting to the server that Thijn mentioned in the thread but it would lead me to a blank server with no channels, then tried looking up in other forums for the latest server(s), but couldn't find something legit, so if anyone can give a brief info on this, I would really appreciate it.

and yeah i am stuck at this

The topic seems to be outdated, however I'm not quite sure if anyone of the VC:MP community still uses GTANet.
As far as I know many of us are using LUNet nowadays. (correct me if I'm wrong)

It looks like you had some trouble connecting to LUNet, but I'm afraid you've used the wrong details.
I will help you with the details, hopefully it helps.

LUNet Address : irc.liberty-unleashed.co.uk or irc.project-apollo.co.uk

Servers :
irc.louhi.fr.liberty-unleashed.co.uk
irc.banshee.fr.liberty-unleashed.co.uk
irc.phoenix.fr.liberty-unleashed.co.uk
irc.rhino.fr.liberty-unleashed.co.uk
irc.ca.vicelegends.com

LUNet uses ports 6667 and 8067 for normal connections. Port 6697 is reserved for secure (SSL) connections.

Hey, thanks man, I successfully connected to the server and so far joined 1 channel which is #EAD.Championship

Can anyone give me a list of channels which are the most active ones? and yeah, do i connect to these channels automatically when i open mIRC or there's a setting for that too?

No, you need to add those channels to your favorite list and check the "Auto-join on connect" box
