Thank you all very much for all the love, it really means the world to me <3

I have since got really good news! I will be getting a new PC on 12th-14th of July and be returning to VC:MP :D
oooh very cool, don't forget to tell us about the specs  O0
Hehe :)

CPU: Intel i3 9100F
GPU: Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1650
RAM: Corsair 8GB DDR4
Storage: SATA 256 GB SSD

Don't go for i3, it's shiet tbh.
go for ryzen or i5 4th gen if you have the budget. You'll regret buying i3 seriously.
Pentium 3 best just like yours  >:D

if you want my opinion,
go for a ryzen 5 1600 af ( 6 cores 12 threads instead of 4c/4t ), if you can't afford it, then buy ryzen 3 1200 (4c/4t). difference might not be marginal but both CPUs have the same socket and are compatible with most mobo chipsets, I'm giving this advice if you consider upgrading in the future as ryzen CPUs are way more affordable and better than intel's.

your specs sound like a typical pre-built desktop, pls don't tell me you're not considering to build a pc.
for those specs I suppose they shouldn't overcome 400 pounds.

Yeah, I was thinking of custom building it on PC Specialist for £520 as it's the cheapest I've been able to find it. All other prebuilt PCs cost a tonne more for less.

As for the CPU, I've taken a look at a bottleneck calculator for the 2 you've suggested and they both bottleneck more than the current i3 I have selected, which only does it for 0.73%. I just don't wanna end up paying more for a better CPU and not be able to take full advantage of it. Also on PC Specialist you have a select number of CPUs and GPUs to work with, and neither of them were on there.

Also for future upgrades like you're talking about, that I really don't think I'll be needing as the most demanding game I'd ever really play would be Rainbow Six Siege, which I will still be able to run at medium settings for 60+ fps.

Well, not really into PC parts but the main thing that matters in CPU is the cores and threads tbh. No matter what generation the processor it is, for e.g, i3 9100F as you said, is gonna have the same cores and threads it has on it's 4th or 5th gen. Instead of this, go for a better thing which is reliable and in budget, that won't make you change the parts for like the next 3-4 years (if you don't want to play AAA games or other heavy games)

Thank you all for your advice! After doing more research into the CPU, I've decided to go for the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 due to it's hyper-threading capabilities, making it 4 core 8 thread.

Final specs are:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 CPU
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU
Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8 GB RAM
Storage: SATA 256 GB SSD

if you still have your dead pc, get HDD out of it and put it in the new pc, since the 256 will not be capable to get all games and stuff on it, i suggest you to just put the windows on the SSD and the programs that you will install also.

Yeah definitely.

As the PC is being built by PC Specialist with only the SSD, Windows 10 will be installed on there anyway.

I'll just have to learn how to disconnect and reconnect my HDD xddd

I've got some good news!

I was removing the hard drive from my old computer in preparation for the new one, when I thought for a second: why not try and reboot the system one last time for the sake of it... and it started working again...

I'm not sure as to why the computer would have not started up in the first place with or without a hard drive, as when I refitted it back in, the whole system was working 100% fine again. (Maybe the hard drive cables were just loose? Idk)

But either way, I've decided to carry on with the purchase of the new computer from PC Specialist whilst using the old one in the meantime, so, I'm back :)
