i think that It cant seem to pin Steam/origin and others games to taskbar . He pinned most used programs and games to taskbar. Because they can access easyly i think so And the other view of my piont.He could hide the desktop icons and only have the background wallpaper showing.
 
but Desktop is also shortcut dialog Box(Explorer) in my point of view for Programers/gamers and others..
they can easily adjust software shortcuts.(they needed)
