So, I've a got a new laptop like 3 weeks ago. The laptop didn't have any OS when I bought it, but a guy that knows with computers installed Windows 8.1. Now, the problem is that I can't run any game that requires DirectX 9.0 (or higher) because I can't update DirectX. I tried everything, and I can't run GTA:SA, nor GTA VC. I'm just screwing around Minecraft... :P
Any suggestions about solving my problem? Is there a way that I can install DirectX manually and not with an installer?
Thanks. ;)

There is no standalone update package for DirectX 11.2. You can only install this DirectX version through Windows Update in Windows 8.1.
did you try to update your Directx version from windows update ?
btw windows 8.1 has in-built Directx version 11.

there are some missing .dll files that prevent directx from working...
kinda new to windows 8.1, never had experiences with OS higher than win7 :P

Ditch Windows.
Use Linux. :)

Try installing these.

+- try running the installer as an administrator. This is pretty much the simplest way to fix shit on Windows.

THere is a Ignore button, Use that.
It happened with me and I ignored that message and still vcmp works fine for me.
Hey there long time no see

I fixed the redist problem, but now the installer for vcmp pops up an error about vcmp-proxy.dll and VCMPBrowser.exe :/

Download here : https://www.sendspace.com/file/e9gdi5
and then paste it in your VC:MP 0.4 installation folder.

What about VCMPBrowser.exe?

A better question is what's the error?

accepted, banned

A better question is what's the error?
Well, the same error like the redist problem. The same goes for vcmp-proxy.dll.

Stormeus can get more clear information if you post a screenshot of that error.
By the way i gave you the download link for vcmp-proxy.dll

Copy pasting the file in question isn't pretty and probably will break something else.

If I ignore the error of vcmp-proxy.dll, this popups then:

If I ignore that too, the installation finishes up making a shortcut to vcmp, but doesn't make a directory of vcmp.

Instaliraj sve verzije vcredista. Ako ne radi, briši 8.1 i vrati se na 7 ili XP. :P

Don't install VC:MP to the GTA:VC directory. Leave it in the default directory in AppData.
The technical reason you're getting the error is because you're installing to Program Files without running the installer as an administrator, and the installer can't extract anything there. The reason you shouldn't install to the GTA:VC directory is because it's unnecessary and causes issues like this when updates come.
-
Or you can just install the ultimate XP and all your worries shall begone.
